Strong debut by The Racing Factory in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica
- Double overall podium by Pedro Salvador marks the debut.
- The driver from Chaves also secured two maximum scores and leads the championship.§ In an ever-increasing weekend, Aloísio Monteiro achieved a dream performance at the controls of the Porsche 991.2 GT3 CUP.
- The “boss” of TRF repeated the “dose” of Salvador and was 2nd in GD Category in both races.
Two races, two cars, driven by Pedro Salvador and Aloisio Monteiro, one pole and four podiums. A favorable outcome obtained by The Racing Factory in its debut in the world of speed, integrating the strong international squad of the new Porsche Sprint Challenge Iberica.
Fighting until the end for the pole-positions for the weekend’s two races with Dylan Pereira, the current holder of the Porsche Supercup, winning that battle for the best laptime in the second qualifying and battling each other for the top places in both races, conquering two podiums, that is the demonstration of class by Pedro Salvador, in his debut as a pilot of The Racing Factory.
He was always very fast and efficient with the Porsche 991.2 GT3 CUP, aiming to be the one who, during Race 1, lapped closest to the leader, quietly securing 2nd position, to star in an intense duel with Francisco Mora for the same 2nd place in Race 2, crossing the finish line in third place, then climbing second as a result of the penalty given to his opponent.
“it was a very positive start for us. I was obviously a little apprehensive because I had neither tested nor trained before the race. What’s more, it was the first time that I was going to compete with this car without ABS, a preponderant situation in terms of obtaining maximum performance with the Porsche. Now, this requires getting used to, many kilometers and we have evolved in the training sessions and even in the two races, being sure that I will be even more competitive in the next rounds of the competition”, he said at the end.
The driver from Chaves stressed that “in addition to the two excellent podiums and the pole I obtained, I highlight above all the fact that we achieved the two maximum scores, as Dylan did not score in these two races. This puts us at the top of the championship, overall and in the PROAM Category, which puts us, right now, in the fight for the titles”. Salvador also highlights “the enormous effort that The Racing Factory put into this race. They did a fantastic job, and I am very grateful to the team for all the support and confidence they have in my work. I am aware that we will improve a lot in the future, and we will be more and more competitive”.
For his part, Aloísio Monteiro left the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve with double reasons for a wide smile on his face.
As a driver, he put in an ever-increasing performance over the two days of competition, using the free practice sessions to adapt. Then, in qualifying for Race 1, he suffered a collision on the first lap and was thus prevented from achieving a satisfactory time.
He didn’t give up, rolling up his sleeves in the 28 minutes + 1 lap of the first clash of the season to recover firmly to 2nd place in the GD Category, a feat he would replicate in Race 2, thus aiming for The Racing Factory’s CEO to crown his debut in this tough competition with a double podium. Remarkable.
“I loved both races, but I leave Portimão with the clear notion that, in Race 2, my performance was a step higher. I lack knowledge and kilometers behind the wheel to better understand the car and its reactions throughout the race, but I am very pleased that, on my debut, I managed to be on the podium in both races, having also shown that I still have room for improvement”.
As leader of The Racing Factory, Aloísio Monteiro speaks of “great satisfaction with the results and, above all, with the team having responded effectively to this new challenge. I would like to thank everyone for the way in which they were able, once again, to demonstrate their full capacity and I would also like to thank Pedro Salvador in a very special way, as he was the key to this success in Portimão. Now, let’s focus on the next objectives, which include returning to rallies and then going to Spain to fight for the victory in the two races of the 2nd round of this competition!”.
The next double challenge of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica will be in Spanish soil. The Motorland Aragón Sports Complex, in Alcañiz, will host the Porsche “armada” on the 27th and 28th of May.
