The Racing Factory wants to remain in the fight for the National title
- Armindo Araújo with clear objectives to return to victories
- Pedro Almeida for the first time on gravel with 208 Rally 4
- Rafael Botelho debuts continental track with The Racing Factory
The Racing Factory will be present at Rali Terras d'Aboboreira, the sixth round of the Portuguese Rally Championship, which will take place next weekend in Amarante, Marco de Canavezes and Baião. In this race the team will again count with Armindo Araújo (Skoda Fabia Rally2) candidate for the absolute title in CPR, as well as Pedro Almeida (Peugeot 208 Rally4), who debuts the French brand car on dirt floors and also the Azorean Rafael Botelho, who joins the team for an adventure on continental soil in his Skoda Fabia R5.
The Team Manager, Justino Reis, is confident for the race. "Terras d'Aboboreira Rally marks the punctual return to the ground floors, where we started the year well, with Armindo Araújo's victory in Serras de Fafe Rally. This leaves us naturally confident and motivated for a race where we will see for the first time the Peugeot 208 Rally 4 on land, by the hands of Pedro Almeida and also the presence of Rafael Botelho in Škoda Fabia R5. Another challenge for the whole Racing Factory team, for which we prepared ourselves in the best way and expect to be up to it", explained.
For Armindo Araújo, the return to the victories in the Portuguese Rally Championship is the great goal in Terras d'Aboboreira Rally: "The Championship enters its decisive phase and the result of this race will have great influence in the final classification. Our great goal is to win the absolute title again and we will do everything to achieve it."
For Pedro Almeida, who last weekend disputed in Spain the Princess of Asturias Rally to count for the Peugeot Rally Cup Iberica, this is another challenge in the season, with the premiere of Peugeot 208 Rally 4 on dirt floors: "Both I and Hugo like very much the layout of this Rally. The first and short experience of 208 Rally4 on land, in the test we did this Wednesday, was positive, so we will try to find a good setup for the Rally and walk at a good pace. We want to be competitive and take references from the car that are also important to us for the future", explained the driver.
For his part, Rafael Botelho makes a dream come true in this sixth round of the Portugal Rally Championship. To participate in this event is to fulfill a dream in sporting terms, since this rally marks my debut in competitions held on continental soil. I am very motivated, even though I have no knowledge of this rally and have little experience in this Skoda Fabia R5. So the main goal is to have fun and make the most of this experience, taking advantage of each kilometer to evolve, trusting in the good work that we have been doing together with The Racing Factory and take advantage of all this experience for future events", he highlighted.
The race will have more than 330km of total length, of which about 100.38km are timed. The first countdown of the chronometer will take place at 2:40pm next Friday, with a double crossing foreseen by the Aboboreira section (16.00km). Two special ones are scheduled for Saturday, also repeated twice, by Amarante Natureza Criativa (23.67km) and Baião Vida Natural (10.52km).
